Lydia Cagney Morris started her early ballet training in Tasmania studying the R.A.D ballet syllabus. After moving to Victoria Lydia then studied both the Cecchetti Ballet method and the Imperial Society Teachers of Dance (ISTD) Tap, National & Modern methods of dance training. Completing a Bachelor of Arts in Performance Studies(Dance/Drama) Lydia then went on to obtain her Cecchetti ballet teaching qualifications up to Licentiate Diploma status. Additional qualifications, include a Diploma in both Dance Teacher Management and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Lydia is also an Artistic Gymnastics (W.A.G) Beginner Coach and was the Organiser of the Victorian Cecchetti Choreographic Competition for 20 years. Lydia enjoys encouraging young dancers to be creative performing their own choreography and be involved in improvisation. A studio owner and popular freelance teacher around Melbourne Lydia’s students have gone on to successful dance careers and full-time training at highly reputable institutions around Australia. Others have been awarded Cecchetti Victoria ballet excellence awards, won Cecchetti medal test competitions and one student a semi-finalist at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. Adjudicating dance for over 24 years around Australia and New Zealand Lydia has judged at over sixty eisteddfods and competitions. In addition to this she is a Speech and Drama Adjudicator and an AMEB-Australian Music Education Board Examiner. Lydia is experienced with the Music Uploads and Vocal critique system. As an Adjudicator she is known for being encouraging and constructive. She enjoys seeing competitors perform gaining confidence and valuable stage experiences as they dance.
